Course Description

Institutional trust is both an asset and a responsibility. In this course, leaders examine how legitimacy is built and sustained across the complex ecosystems of stakeholders that shape higher education—governments, Indigenous communities, students, labour groups, alumni, donors, and media. Participants will analyze how diverse expectations and power dynamics influence institutional strategy, finance, and governance. Emphasis is placed on the executive role of reconciling competing interests, communicating with transparency, and strengthening reciprocity and accountability in public relationships. Leaders will practice strategies for engagement that reinforce institutional credibility and model integrity in times of alignment, tension, or crisis.
