Course Description
Unlock your potential with the "Own Your Future Career Camp", a transformative one-week program for high school students. This immersive experience empowers participants with essential skills and knowledge to confidently navigate their post-secondary education and career journeys.
This camp offers a one-week program for students. High school students who are interested in participating may register for the camp, running July 13-17 and August 10-14, 2026.
Program Overview
By the end of the one‑week program, students will have explored a wide range of career opportunities and created a personalized action plan to support their future success. The program features intensive sessions led by University of Guelph Career Educators, where students will:
- Build core career‑management skills, including an understanding of the career‑planning process
- Develop greater self‑awareness
- Learn to articulate their skills and interests in résumés, cover letters, networking conversations, and interviews
- Navigate the labour market, including identifying trends, opportunities, and employers’ expectations
- Gain confidence in making informed decisions about their future studies and employment
In addition, through daily guided career exploration and networking activities with the University of Guelph community, participants will gain firsthand insights into various academic programs and relevant career opportunities. Participants will meet leading and emerging experts across the U of G colleges, including the College of Arts, College of Biological Science, Gordon S. Lang School of Business and Economics, College of Engineering, College of Computational, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, College of Social & Applied Human Sciences, Ontario Agricultural College, and Ontario Veterinary College.
Who Should Attend
This camp is ideal for high school students grades 9-12 and recent graduates who are eager to explore their future career paths and gain valuable insights and skills for their post-secondary journey and beyond.
The program is designed to support students make informed decisions about their future and set them up for success.
