Course Description

This intermediate module builds on foundational quality concepts by introducing practical approaches to quality control, risk analysis, and compliance management. Learners examine the Voice of the Customer (VOC) as a foundation for quality planning, develop Quality Function Deployment (QFD) matrices, construct Fault Tree Analyses (FTA), and perform basic risk assessment using Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). The module also covers the application of various sampling and auditing techniques, along with Cost of Quality (CoQ) analysis, emphasizing tools and strategies to optimize processes and ensure regulatory compliance.

Learning Outcomes

What You'll Learn

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Interpret and incorporate the Voice of the Customer (VOC) into quality planning and process design.

  1. Develop a basic Quality Function Deployment (QFD) matrix linking customer needs to product/process requirements.

  1. Construct and analyze Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) diagrams to evaluate system risks and failure modes.

  1. Use Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to identify, evaluate, and prioritize potential risks in a process or system.

  1. Select and apply appropriate sampling techniques including random, stratified, systematic, and lot sampling for quality assessment.

  1. Plan and conduct internal quality audits using standardized checklists and audit procedures.

  1. Perform introductory Cost of Quality (CoQ) analysis to identify and classify quality-related costs.
