Course Description

This micro-credential provides an introduction to foundational concepts in quality engineering, emphasizing practical applications. Learners will explore the definition of quality, key performance dimensions, and the roles of quality control, assurance, improvement, and management. The course highlights the seven basic quality tools, introductory statistical process control methods, and structured root cause analysis techniques. Participants will also gain hands-on experience in process capability analysis.

What You'll Learn

Upon successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Define quality and describe key performance dimensions used to assess products and processes.  

  1. Differentiate between quality control, quality assurance, quality improvement, and quality management functions.  

  1. Apply the seven basic quality tools to identify, monitor, and interpret process and product-related issues.   

  1. Perform root cause analysis using cause-and-effect and Pareto techniques to support quality problem solving.  

  1. Interpret control charts to assess process behavior and determine process stability.  

  1. Calculate process capability indices and evaluate their implications for process performance.

Pre-requisite(s):  

High school diploma or equivalent; no prior experience in quality engineering is required.
