Course Description

NOTE: This course has an in-person final exam.

This foundational course introduces students to artificial intelligence with a focus on Large Language Models (LLMs), emphasizing practical applications, critical thinking, and ethical considerations. Designed for first-year university students across all disciplines, the course requires no prior technical knowledge. 

What You'll Learn

By the end of the course, the learner should be able to:

  1. Describe the basic principles and capabilities of AI systems, particularly LLMs 
  1. Effectively use common AI tools in academic and professional contexts 
  1. Develop critical thinking skills for evaluating AI-generated content 
  1. Apply ethical frameworks to AI-related challenges 
  1. Practice responsible AI use in academic settings
