Course Description

In this course, we will examine emerging data privacy and security challenges in the age of AI and machine learning. We develop research skills to identify and analyze current privacy and security threats, real-world case studies, and their impacts. 

We will introduce key concepts and demonstrations of AI-driven security and privacy risks and fundamental defense mechanisms. 

An introduction to fundamental concepts in data governance and ethical considerations in cybersecurity will be provided. 

Through short literature reviews, presentations, in-class demonstrations, and hands-on practice, you will be equipped with common strategies to assess and mitigate modern threats in various domains. By the end of the week, you will develop a solid understanding of AI’s role in data privacy and security. 

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to: 

1. Investigate recent data privacy and security threats in their own fields.  

2. Apply common data privacy-protection solutions to reduce privacy and security risks.  

3. Examine the use of AI and Machine Learning in data privacy and security.  

4. Analyze the principles of data governance in cybersecurity.
